Cooper's First Taste of Bacon

Kenny and Cooper took me out for my birthday breakfast at Mimi's Cafe today. Yummy by the way!! Cooper begged for the bacon on my plate, so I gave up a piece thinking he would spit it out. Not a chance. My big boy dominated that piece of bacon!

I am boy! Me eat meat!

Yum. Yum. Yum.

Who would have thought he would have this kind of reaction to a simple piece of bacon. Have I been depriving him all this time? Check out the proud look on his Daddy's face too.

Mmmmm...Good!

Today, we ran an errand to Target. Cooper found the Perfect Brownie Pan and decided to stop to check it out. He realized there were brownies on the box and proceeded to pretend he was eating them. Mmmm...good! He's too cute so I just had to take a break from the day and enjoy.
And don't worry...I got to him before he could clean those bowls off of the shelf!

Playtime at Grandma and Grandpa's

Living Room T-Ball with Pa

Swing Batta-Batta

There's no tackling in T-Ball!

Man, he's into it! Rosey cheeks and that intense look in his eyes. And yes, he hits them full speed ahead directly into the cabinets. You can only get away with such things at the grandparents'!

Doubles as a mic stand!

Now your turn Pa!

Cool-down Coloring with Grandma

Coloring an OSU Cowboy bunny just in time for Easter! Cooper's got the orange and Ma has the black.

Ma made this coloring book especially for Cooper! He's hunkering down to get his color on and enjoy it!!

Now he's concentrating on getting the crayons back in the box. Poor box will never be the same again.

Oh What To Do On A Lazy Saturday Afternoon

Cooper has this thing where he loves to empty a shelf or two on the DVD case, and then he will move on to something else. Well, for whatever reason, he felt the need to empty much, much more on Saturday afternoon. See for yourself...

Let's get started. Keep in mind, it usually doesn't amount to much more than what you see on the floor here.

It's keeps growing...

and growing...notice he's having to stretch over the massive pile now.

He's assessing the situation. Do I need to trash a little more??

Oh, why not?

His feet have disappeared, and I am left with the mess to clean-up.

DISCLAIMER: No DVD's were harmed with the making of this blogspot. All Blu-ray discs are out of his reach.

AND HE'S NOT EVEN 2 YEARS OLD YET! AHHHHH...
I bet I know who's raising I'm paying for, and it isn't yours truly!
*Polishing my halo now!*

Playing It Cool With Daddy

These are definitely some of my favorite pictures from recently. They capture the boys at their most natural. We were hanging out in the kitchen Saturday morning while Daddy was making pancakes. Cooper decided he wanted Daddy to hold him (probably because this was the one time he was actually doing something else - you know how toddlers are). So, the blogging Mommy grabbed the camera!

I just love how Cooper is looking at him!! Priceless expressions with this child.

You can just tell how much he loves his baby - he's not afraid to show it! Makes my heart melt.

Stare down!!

Are we about done here Dad? When is she going to give it a rest with the camera?
NEVER KID...NEVER!!!

Skype With Nana Jana

Cooper loves to Skype with Nana Jana and Grandpa Andy. We were chatting the other night, and he started getting up in the camera and roaring at her. Well, in true Nana Jana fashion, she roared right back. He thought it was so funny!

Sitting proud, chatting with Nana!

ROAR!! This is him actually roaring at her. Notice how his cheeks look strained. Ha!!

Oh wait...he discovered a tiny picture of himself at the bottom of the screen since you can see what the other person sees. He's so vain!

We love you Nana Jana!!

See...fun times were had by all!! Meet Nana Jana!

Don't forget to check out her blog too!

Kennyisms from Date Night

Let me share with you a few "Kennyisms" from date night.

Kenny says...
Why don't people know how to merge on the highway??
I say...
I don't know hon.
Kenny says...
Is this a new skill? Did they just build highways??

Kenny says...
Hmmmm...I love perfect margaritas. I should drink them all the time. I like the way I feel!

Kenny says...
Please don't publish that on your blog. Where is the freedom of speech you ask? Well, I'm the freaking U.S.S.R.!

Cheers to you babe! Never a dull moment with you around. This is why I love him. He can make me laugh no matter what!!

Date Night

Ladies and Gents...

For those of you who are married with children, please, please, please tell me you make time to enjoy each other as a couple independent of your child(ren)!! Kenny and I have made it our priority to STAY MARRIED!! This means that we take one night per week out of our crazy and hectic schedules for a "date night." Plus, it is a little perk that we get to eat out too. Since the Alvarado's incident (Cooper behaved like a toddler), we don't really force the little one to dine in public. Anyways, we had an amazing date night last Friday.

After work, we went out to Lake Hefner to eat at Mama Roja. They have some of the most amazing Mexican food. Oh, and don't forget the perfect margaritas (they live up to their name). We had a perfect view of the lake at sunset (see above - although this is a little dark because I took it with the IPhone). Heck, it almost felt like we were on vacation.

But, all good things must come to an end...

EMPTY! :(

Who are we kidding?? We are ready to pick Cooper up by the end of the night anyways. We are still fairly new parents and the conversation always has a way of coming back around to him. But really, if you are ready for a date night, I recommend Mama Roja on the lake. You can't beat it!!

The Many Faces of Cooper

By the expressions, you can tell Cooper has a camera in his face all the time. Oh, but isn't he cute?

Accentuating the double chin. Nice!

No, Mom. I'm not up to anything!

Come on now. Enough with the pictures!

Give me this thing. I'll take care of these pictures myself!

This is how we spend the evenings while Daddy is preparing dinner. Time after work and daycare in the playroom is absolutely precious. He's actually wanted to cuddle and snuggle so I am cherishing this week that I do not have to cook! I'm getting all of my Cooper time in!

Kenny Is Cooking All Week!!

Since Kenny wasn't feeling well last week (I picked up the slack with meals and Cooper), he has agreed to cook all week! We have had some pretty great meals with more to come. He was proud of the last two and thought I could share some pictures. He's not big on sticking to recipes, so I can find out how he makes something if anyone is interested. I do know where he gets his inspiration, so I will try to share as much as I know now.

Grilled Steak with Sweet Potato Fries
Inspiration: The BBQ Bible (I love this book for him. I get to reap the benefits of some amazing meals!!)

Kenny is definitely an great cook and an even better husband. I am so lucky! And yes, my plate looks like this when it is all said and done!
Guess it is a good thing I got married before I became too much of a fatty! :)
I kid, I kid...

Hope everyone is having a delicious week so far! Any good recipes you would like to share??

What I've Been Watching

Year One Poster
See full size imageI enjoyed this movie. I laughed out loud, which warrants a thumbs up in my book! Year One was definitely an interesting take on Biblical stories. You know what I actually got up from the movie thinking? I wonder how the people of that era actually did speak. Obviously, this movie was historically inaccurate when it comes to this small issue. But I guess historical accuracy isn't exactly what it was all about.
I RECOMMEND THIS ONE!

See full size imageThere is something about the Transformers movies that I just love. Talk about taking you out of reality for a couple of hours. Big comfy chair + HD TV + Blu-ray + Surround Sound = Amazing Movie Experience! The only negative I can say about this one is that the sequence when Sam is trying to get to Optimus Prime could have been a good 30 minutes shorter. Girls, give this one a chance even if you aren't into the "action movie thing." If nothing else, you have got to appreciate the special effects.
I RECOMMEND THIS ONE!

Shutter Island
See full size imageI went into this movie thinking that it would definitely be slightly disturbing and scary. I thought more emphasis on scary rather than disturbing. Oh no, it is quite the other way around. Let me just say this. As a mother, I would never, never, never recommend another mother watch this movie. Now, I do appreciate the fact that this movie did it's job (as Kenny keeps reminding me - he loved it)...it bothered me! Leonardo DiCaprio was amazing as usual. I just don't recommend watching it because I left the theater with a knot in my stomach, quite disgusted. All I could think of doing was going to pick up my baby and snuggling. When (if) you watch it, you'll know what I mean.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ONE!
